5 Tips For An Amazing First Wedding Dance

Imagine it’s your wedding day. You’ve had a beautiful ceremony, tons of fun taking pictures, a delicious meal, and now it’s time to get the party started. You walk out to the dance floor for your first dance as husband and wife in front of all of your family and you … Eeek! What do you do?
Here are 5 fool-proof tips from the pros at Ballroom Dance Chicago for rocking your first dance:
This Lovely Couple's First Dance At Their Chicago Adler Planetarium Wedding

5 Tips For an Amazing First Dance
1) Start dance lessons ASAP

Unlike other items on the wedding prep list, a first dance takes more than signing a contract and letting the vendor take care of the rest. Learning to dance takes time and practice, so don’t leave this detail for the last minute; get started right away (at least 4-6 months before the big day, if you can)!

2) Find the right dance studio: one that specializes in wedding dances

Many ballroom dance studios offer inexpensive or free introductory lessons, and you should take advantage of these! When you’re there, pay attention to details: did your instructor really listen to you? Did you feel comfortable in the studio? Could you see yourself spending time with your instructor? If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” consider another dance studio. It’s easy to just choose the least expensive option, but you'll sacrifice the quality of your first dance. Instead, invest in a studio you’ll really enjoy.

3) Find the perfect first dance song

The perfect first dance song has three qualities:
1) It makes you feel something: joy, love, connection, romance, etc.
2) It makes you want to dance with your partner
3) It fits your personality as a couple and the sentiment of your wedding reception
If you find a song that captures all three, that’s the one! Stop searching. Just give the lyrics a once-over to make sure they really are about love.

4) Decide when to do the first dance during the reception

Your reception timeline can make or break the party, and your first dance has an impact. Do you want your first dance to inspire your guests to get on the dance floor? Then place it after dinner, before dancing. Do you want your first dance to be a grand performance? Then do the first dance right after you enter the reception. Do you want the first dance to be an intimate moment that’s mostly unnoticed by the crowd? Then dance during dinner, while everyone is distracted by their tasty entrees!

5) Consider your wardrobe

Yes, that mermaid gown is gorgeous, but if you can barely walk, sit or breathe in it, then dancing will be a challenge. The same goes for the style of your heels! If being able to dance the night away is important to you, then get a dress and pair of shoes that allows for that. We recommend an A-line dress and Angela Nuran wedding shoes. They’re made like dance shoes with a suede sole and a very comfortable fit, plus they’re gorgeous!

If you keep all these tips in mind, you’ll be sure to have a great experience dancing at your wedding!

The Storied Table Wedding Registry

It’s wedding shower time and we are always looking for new and unique wedding registry sources for our newly engaged couples to know about. Forget about the dreaded trip to a traditional department store or big box shops that will be eager to hand you a scanning gun. It may sound fun at first but it’s really only exciting for 3 minutes, then it just becomes “buyers fatigue”, too many decisions and you begin to put not much thought or care into what really would love to have in your registry long or short term!

The Storied Table is the perfect wedding registry for  modern couples looking for unique items and experiences. It’s definitely a wedding trend we see increasing with popularity.  Think about it, most couples today already own a lot of good basic kitchen items and simply do not need or want more. Grooms are getting more involved in the wedding planning process and  deciding what they want to be in the household and their wedding registry.  Also, there are so many gift givers (like me!) that want to standout for finding the perfect wedding or shower gift. Besides, they'd be more likely to remember who gifted a wonderful addition to their household vs. that fancy crock pot! (Think gorgeous silver trays, artisinal blown glassware from The Storied Table...) View the latest Storied Table video for some simple yet beautiful styling tips and advice.

Experiential gifts are also on the rise. Think private cooking classes, foodie trips, home styling sessions or donating to the couples favorite charity. The Storied Table can custom design unique experiences you could only wish to receive for your wedding registry.

The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery is hosting a special Pop Up Shop for The Storied Table on Sunday March 5th from 12-3 to showcase their unique and beautiful tabletop selections.
We’ll be serving special drinks and light bites. Hope to see you there!

Blue Wedding Shoes !

Our beautiful bride Cynthia was blessed with having two wedding ceremonies in one day! She was married in a traditional Catholic Church followed by a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony in Chicago.
She gave us her wedding invitation and asked us to dye her Angela Nuran bridal shoes to match. She opted for a beautiful blue buckle adornment on the shoe. Her blue wedding shoes match her fiance's wedding suit perfectly! All of our Angela Nuran shoes are made of pure luxe silk and crafted to dye whatever color you desire. She loved them so much that she ordered a pair of Angela Nuran shoes in black silk after her wedding! All  photos are by Chicago Wedding Photographer, Angela Garbot Photography

Merci Beaucoup Cynthia for your wonderful review of The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery!
(As Published on Wedding Wire and Yelp)
"I went to the Left Bank specifically to look at and try on Angela Nuran shoes.  I purchased Angela Nuran's Astoria shoes with the Antique brooch.  I had them custom dyed to match my wedding color.  They turned out perfect.  Not only did the look beautiful, but they were comfortable as well - more comfortable than I ever thought a pair of heels could feel.  After my wedding, I bought a second pair in black!  In addition to the shoes, I purchased a decorative hair clip and a bracelet for my wedding, plus other jewelry to wear to the brunch the day after the wedding.  The Left Bank has such pretty jewelry and accessories, not just for bridal and weddings.  The staff is friendly and helpful and knowledgeable.  Sign up for their e-mail list.  They have great events and sales, even online."
