Wedding 101 Radio Show

Susan Metropoulous, owner of The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery was recently interviewed on David Rothstein's Wedding 101 Radio Show.

It's the most common statement we get here ....

"How do I shop for my wedding accessories without my gown?"

Well, there are certainly a lot of choices now when it comes to wedding accessories and we realize it can be overwhelming.  The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery has a team of professional stylists that can help you pull your wedding day style together for you. Whether you live near our boutique or afar, we are happy to help you out.

A few do's & don'ts for wedding accessory shopping;

1. Don't shop last minute.
2.  Don't necessarily go by your wedding date, but when you want everything in your hands.
3.  Break your shoes in before your wedding so they actually mold to your feet.
4.  Never be influenced by other people.  Try not to bring the "entourage" shopping with you. As nice as it is to get other opinions, make sure that you are happy with your own choice.  Take their advice on board of course, but always go with what YOU feel most comfortable on and what reflects your personal style.
Listen in to hear more wedding accessory shopping advice!

Featured as one of the “125 Women in Chicago You Need to Know” by Crave Chicago, Susan has worked to establish The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery as "The Soul of Paris in the Heart of Chicago" over the past 21 years. Her success speaks to her own insights as a collector of antique vintage jewelry – that consumers demand (and crave) quality and uniqueness. Today, The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery has evolved into a petite haven for French-inspired gifts and a must-stop for brides shopping for beautiful wedding shoes, like those from Angela Nuran,  and bridal accessories, such as earrings, bracelets, cuffs and hair pieces. The quaint boutique is also a delightful place to indulge in bijoux and other small treasures, all with a French twist!

Hotel Intercontinental Chicago Wedding

Jamison + Jamie’s wedding day was filled with an abundance of love and romance. With an amazing couple, beautiful locations and great weather, it was truly a magical day. Jamie looked truly stunning in her gown and wedding jewelry from The Left Bank.

Here's their brief story;

Jamie had visions for a classic Chicago big city wedding.  The wedding ceremony took place at , St. James Chapel which is a  one of Chicago’s prettiest historic chapels and recently restored. The French gothic style church and Caen stone chapel was inspired by San Chapelle in Paris France. The intimate chapel setting,  colorful stained glass windows, and stone sanctuary, painted a picturesque fairytale like location for their exchanging of vows.

When asking about their day, Jamie + Jamison say, “There were many favorite memories we will never forget from our day, but two specific memories stand out more than others. One memory we remember vividly was the first moment we saw on another for the first time, as Jamie was walking down the aisle with her father. For an entire year, we kept it a secret of how the other would look on the day of. Jamison did not share with Jamie what he was planning on wearing ( tuxedos, bow ties, etc. ) and Jamie kept the same secret not revealing with Jamison her bridal gown and all the bride’s accessories that went along with it. We both remember how handsome and beautiful each other looked at first sight.”

Out of 50+ reception venues they toured all while living in Indianapolis, Jamie said they were sold on The InterContinental Hotel which fit their vision perfectly with it's historic gilded grand ballroom and the striking architectural elements of the building.

As Jamie had dreamed, her and Jamison’s celebration unfolded as a series of unforgettable events. The evening even included one additional surprise for guests, Jamie’s personally choreographed a surprise dad and daughter dance, turning into a huge flash mob dance."A second favorite  memory was when we performed a flash mob dance during the reception with our parents and entire bridal party. We had practiced this dance over and over for weeks, and it was so much fun to finally be able to surprise everyone with our moves to Black Eyed Peas’ “Dirty Bit”. Our parents and bridal party performed amazing! The excitement really set the tone for the rest of the night and it turned out to be an unforgettable time for all of our guests.”
What an incredible celebration! Congrats to you both!

Real Wedding from Paris

Paris Opera virtuoso, Louise Callinan, had a beautiful wedding in France. She embellished her designer wedding gown with stunning Angela Nuran Starletta shoes purchased from The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery. She also accented her wedding day with a bridal headpiece, jewelry and gifts for her bridesmaids from this Chicago boutique. We really enjoyed working with her to complete her bridal beauty needs, merci beaucoup Louise!

Their wedding and religious ceremony was held in St. Germain en Laye, a region just north of Versailles outside Paris. Their elegant wedding reception took place at The Pavillion Henri IV, also in St. Germain region.
Her groom, Rodney, originally from London is also a opera singer like Louise. They are a perfect match for each other. There is so much love between them, as shown in these fabulous photos from our friend,
David Bacher , a friend and a professional wedding photographer in Paris.

Bon marriage Louise et Rodney!

Angela Nuran has created the most comfortable wedding shoes made today. We are honored to have another limited edition design to our wedding shoe collection, the Angela Nuran "Fancie" shoe, available exclusively at The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery.

AngelaNuran-Fancie-TheLeftBank
Talk about filling a need, Angela was a professional ballroom dancer and helped choreograph hundreds of first dances for bride and grooms. Inevitably she would get invited to their weddings and notice that many of the brides took off their shoes at some point during their wedding day. As she gasped to herself, "a lady should never take her shoes off at her wedding!" an idea was born to create ultra comfortable wedding shoes that you can wear all day.

AngelaNuran-Fancie-TheLeftBank Angela Nuran, the designer behind the eponymous line of comfortable wedding shoes presents an exclusive design to The Left Bank Jewelry & Bridal Finery, The "Fancie" shoe with a nod to art deco & Old Hollywood styling. As with all Angela Nuran shoes, this shoe has an adjustable ankle strap with a unique dancer's buckle. The Fancie shoe is crafted of the finest pearl tone silk, has an ultra soft foot bed which molds to your individual feet, kid leather interior and sueded leather soles for comfort and traction which is perfect for dancing. The front design has an elegant crystal embellishment which has no prongs, so no worries about fraying your gown! The heel height is a perfect 3.5" high. We love the classic style of this comfortable wedding shoe which has a touch of art deco styling.

AngelaNuran-Fancie-TheLeftBank
This is a very limited edition style. Once sold out, this shoe will not be available anymore.Sizes 5.5 - 11 which run true to size. Specially priced at $199, these shoes are completely dyeable and perfect for the bride and her bridesmaids.
